1. Who We Are

The Store Is Closed (the "Game") is developed and published by Ziggy, operating as Chico Games ("we", "us", "our"). This privacy policy covers both the Game and our website at thestoreisclosed.com (the "Website").

2. Data We Collect on the Website

The Website is a static informational site. It does not use advertising cookies or tracking analytics. The following applies:

Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to development updates, your email address is collected and stored by our email provider, EmailOctopus. We use it only to send you updates about the Game. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Hosting and delivery. The Website is hosted on GitHub Pages, and loads fonts and scripts from Google Fonts and jsDelivr. Like all web servers, these services receive your IP address and standard request data (browser type, pages visited) in order to deliver content. 3. Data We Collect in the Game

Crash reports. If the Game crashes, a crash report may be sent to us automatically. It contains technical information needed to diagnose the crash: a crash dump, game log, game version, and basic system information (operating system version, hardware specifications). Crash reports may be processed on infrastructure we operate and/or by our crash-reporting provider BugSplat.
Gameplay telemetry. The Game sends us anonymous gameplay events (for example: session length, features used, and progression milestones) tied to a randomly generated anonymous identifier. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, or any platform account, and we use this data solely to find bugs and improve the Game.
Online multiplayer. Online co-op uses platform services to connect players. Depending on how you play, this involves Steam (Valve) and Epic Online Services (Epic Games) for matchmaking, lobbies, and network sessions. These platforms process data such as your platform account ID and IP address under their own privacy policies; we do not receive or store this information beyond what is needed to run your multiplayer session.

We do not collect your real name, address, payment information, or contact details through the Game. Purchases are handled entirely by the store platform you buy the Game on.

4. How We Use Your Data

To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs.
To understand how the Game is played so we can improve it.
To operate online multiplayer sessions.
To send you development updates you have asked for.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the service providers listed above, who process it on our behalf.

5. Data Retention

Crash reports and telemetry are kept only as long as they are useful for development and are periodically deleted. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Because telemetry identifiers are anonymous, we cannot link them back to you after collection.

6. Children

The Game and Website are not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at ziggygamedev@gmail.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Game develops. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Significant changes will be announced through our community channels.
